Thom Holmes is an author specializing in natural history subjects including evolution and dinosaurs. As a writer and researcher, he works with leading paleontologists and takes part in field expeditions to dig dinosaurs. He has engaged in research on the early history of dinosaur science in America, particularly the exploits of Edward Drinker Cope of Philadelphia and Othniel Charles Marsh of New Haven. As the publications director of The Dinosaur Society (1991-1997), Holmes was the world's only full-time dinosaur journalist. It was through the Society and his work as an educator with the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia that Thom developed widespread contacts and working relationships with paleontologists and paleo-artists throughout the world.

Thom is the author of more than 20 books about evolution, dinosaurs, and other prehistoric life.
